I’m a huge fan of the artist changing up the art style and the characters noticing. It’s a great way to let the reader know that something is changing in the reality on the page. After two full stories of monochrome art, the return to color feels like something that Bilal has been building up to. And it’s gorgeous work.

One of the things that’s been really interesting about Morrison’s run is that he’s had to maneuver around the pre-existing obligation of Bilal’s late period trilogy, which has been running for five years by this point. Here, he did a pretty good job of making the issue this episode appeared in the Weird Issue. Thematically, it works really well. Some of the others really haven’t been as seamless.
