Dieter Lumpen is, hands down, my favorite feature from this era of Heavy Metal. In this particular story, a woman he met in Paris is taking him to South America so she can research her grandmother’s past as an opera singer in South America. While she was there, said grandmother took a lover and subsequently brought her back to Paris, where he was assaulted and all of his teeth smashed in.

One of the reasons I enjoy this series so much is the economy of the storytelling – that entire backstory is told in this single page. Without the words, you can still understand exactly what happened.
