The story opens with strange masked soldiers kidnapping various women – often in some state of undress – for some nefarious reason that is not explained until much later in the story. Most of this page is the wrap up of the last abduction.
The final panel on the page introduces a peacenik group called Bluespace – this universe’s version of Greenpeace. Bluespace provides an anti-war commentary throughout the remainder of the story, heavily implying that the reasons for the war are not those that are stated out loud. It’s a very avowedly countercultural point of view to be expressing in 1990.
