To this point, the only commonality between the various episodes was the bar and it’s employees and patrons. But then our POV character has an intense dream that includes the animals from the previous episodes in one long sequence. The sequence wouldn’t make much sense if the reader had not read the previous episodes – possibly the only argument in favor of Heavy Metal printing the whole story all at once.
