In the September 1985 issue of Heavy Metal, a letter from Ted McKeever was published in Chain Mail (back when Heavy Metal had a letters section). At that point, he was just an illustrator for the Miami Herald raving about Richard Corben.

Unfortunately, McKeever has recently announced that he will be quitting comics to focus on creating other kinds of art.

I think it’s interesting that a publication like Heavy Metal has enough history that it can be used to track the career of a creator like McKeever over time. It’s one of the reasons I’m still engaged with this reread project.
