Those three men in blackface at the bottom of the page deserve an explanation. Earlier in the story, they are attacked by three men in hoods with a clever KKK logo on them. They are captured and handed over to a tattoo artist. At the request of one of the main characters, he has the artist tattoo blackface on all three racists, specifically for being racist. 

Which would be a nice piece of revenge if blackface wasn’t already fraught with negative connotations.
