This is a pretty wide-ranging story about prophecy and the bronze horse statues that were stolen by the Venetians during the Crusades and mounted above St. Mark’s Basilica (hence the title). The prophecy peers very far into the future, including this page. What I like about this page is how the story is told through iconic imagery that a modern reader can recognize, but the pre-historic prophets would not have easily recognized. The fact that there is almost no text on the page really lets the art tell the story, and makes for a visually more impressive page.
