The art in this story – especially the spotted blacks – is fantastic. The storyline, however, is a bit problematic. It’s about a man who owns a bear that travels from place to place, getting paid to let the bear fight (and kill) different things. This story is about the first time that the bear has ever fought a human being – a boxing champion from England. After the boxer beats the bear, we get to this page, where a gunfighter who has been travelling with the bear’s owner tries to fight the boxer as well. The physical comedy punchline is extremely well executed.
