This story has some pretty heavy emotional elements in it. Set during the late 30s, the woman is a European anthropologist who is observing Amazonian tribes. One of the recurring subplots is her calling home to get news of her family, which we see here.

The majority of the story is told in the midst of nature, so the contrast between this page and it’s sequential neighbors is dramatic. The artist is good enough that he can add in all of the squalid details that makes the tiny port town come alive. I also really enjoy the cozy library in the third panel.
