This story is pretty much a retelling of Attila the Hun attacking the Roman Empire, with spaceships. Honestly, you could strip all of the science fictional elements out of the story and it wouldn’t really make much of a difference to the way the story is told. Like the Roman Empire itself, the SF is just window dressing. I would have been more impressed if they’d taken the time to change some of the names.
