This is a beautifully drawn story that is painfully honest about the options, the realities, and social situations of sex work. It’s also very violent to women, especially this scene, depicting a fairly brutal (and arbitrary) punishment to mete out just for sex work. At first, the violence made me not like the story, but I think the unflinching take on what a seedy underbelly actually looks like works just fine.
