One of the things that keeps popping up through the story are magazine covers like this. It’s explained on the next page that these were seeded through the past to undermine Lola’s credibility, which is a decent idea that suffers from poor implementation. Also, I’m really annoyed that they spelled Poul Anderson’s name wrong.
