The story is weird and ultra-violent and not very well written. But one of the things that I did note was that the presumptive date of the future has moved ahead. When Heavy Metal was first published, 1991 was a far-off year. There were several stories set in the early 2000s and mid 2010s. Now that those dates have passed and the future has to be pushed out again.
